Hong Kong 2010, Day 2 - Kowloon

On day two, we visited and explored one of the famous areas in Hong Kong, Kowloon. Every movie, every drama will definitely talk about Kowloon. Well, not just because Hong Kong is small but it's significantly awesome. It's the busy city, busy street and everybody seems to rush to every where.

First thing first, food. We dropped by the near by restaurant next to our hotel for the regular food in Hong Kong, Dim Sum.

Dim Sum is a Cantonese term for individual small portion dishes. There are many type of dim sum to order and try out.

Shao Mai

Har Gao

Guo Tie (I think)

Char Siew Bao

Siu Lung Bao

Steam Pork

Malay Gao

Lou Mai Gai (with Chinese pork sausages)

As I was saying dim sum is the regular meal in Hong Kong but it doesn't mean every where has nice dim sum. So, choose the right one if you were there.

We spent our day by walking from one place to another, from hotel to MTR station, to Mongkok, to Tsim Sha Tsui and many places. It was extremely tiring but super fun and eyes opening.

Metro card for MTR fast train, the octopus card

One thing you should know is that octopus card is very useful. You can use in the bus, train and even in convenient store like 7 Eleven. The transportation in Hong Kong is cheap. Well, as in very convenient and affordable. Good thing is they encourage you to use the public transportation by giving the free reload for HKD 2 in certain area. Isn't that great?

Flash your octopus card to gain HKD 2

Below are the shop along Mong Kok area

Pet street

Flower street market

There are many street food that you should try out, they were reasonable price and delicious!

Pork Sausages

Smelly Tau Fu

And here are around Tsim Sha Tsui area, take note that most of the electronic stuffs can be shop around this area with a really good price. Not to forget that they do have a lot of shopping malls and food surrounding.

Beef rice-burger from MOS Burger

Mice wine

And here's our Kah Wai whom just finished her snake soup :-s

One of the famous place in Tsim Sha Tsui area is the Avenue of Star. It wasn't very thrill to me. The celebrities hand print and signatures along the walking street and the environment was remarkable but the Musical of light was horrible. The music was horrible, the light wasn't good enough, everything was just not good. It's just my opinion, but no harm watching since it's free of charge.

After all we call it a day and walked back for dinner from Avenue of Stars to central of Tsim Sha Tsiu.

Here are some Fun Facts of Hong Kong :P

Kid meal at McDonald comes with Hello Kitty
